instructions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt.
Cream together butter and sugar, until light in color.
Add milk, egg, vanilla and beet powder together and mix.
Add egg mixture to creamed butter and sugar.
Add sifted flour mixture to butter mixture, mix until combined to uniform dough.
If dough is too soft, refrigerate for 1 hour.
Roll dough out on floured surface to ¼ inch thick.
Cut out cookies with heart shaped cookie cutter.
Bake in 325°F oven for 8-12 minutes.
Decorate cookies with royal icing once completely cooled.
Icing
Add beet powder, egg white & vanilla in a bowl, mix.
Add sifted icing sugar, one cup at a time. Whisking between additions.
Once incorporated decorate cookies, either dipping, or piping icing.
This icing will dry out quickly. You can place a damp towel over top of your bowl to help keep it moist.
