Fairwinds Farm
Pepper Jack
In 1994, the Oudshoorn family bought their first goats for one of their children so they could learn how to make yogurt and cheese for family and friends. What started as a hobby became a passion, and in 1998, the family became licensed to produce milk for sale at their family farm. A few years later, they were distributing plain yogurt for organic grocery stores. Long-term, they wanted their farm to be completely self-sustaining and organic, so they moved to Fort Macleod, Alberta. They grow and produce the feed for their goats and they supply their own fertilizer using the goat manure. On Fairwinds Farm, goats have a good life. They’re able to access pasture year-round, and during the winter months they have shelter from the elements. They enjoy an organic whole grain diet and they’re never treated with hormones.
