Eden Foods got its start as a co-op in southern Michigan in the late 1960s. A group of friends couldn’t find natural food at the local supermarket, so they decided to source it for themselves. They traveled dirt roads across the country and knocked on doors until they found farmers using organic methods to grow their crops. The co-op made deals with these farmers and soon expanded into a natural food store that offered whole grains, beans, soy foods, sea vegetables, cereals and nut butters. In 1972, Eden opened its warehouse and established a relationship with artisan Japanese foodmakers, allowing them to import delicious, natural food from other parts of the world. Over the decades that passed, Eden continued to develop a dynamic network of suppliers that ensured they could help you find the high-quality food you want. To this day, Eden prepares 75% of its products at headquarters to reduce environmental impact. They focus on local ingredients, and buy them directly from farmers who use sustainable, organic production methods.
