While Community Natural Foods certainly has plenty of options for all natural home and body products, sometimes it’s fun to make your own using Alberta Natural Products’ new Essential Oils! These recipes are not only easy to make, they’re also easy on the wallet and are customizable.
 
 Deodorant
¼ cup coconut oil
 2 tbsp arrowroot powder
 1 tbsp baking soda
 15 drops lavender essential oil
 10 drops lemon essential oil
 deodorant stick container
 
 Heat the coconut oil in the microwave or in a pan on the stove top until it’s melted.
 Remove from heat and mix in arrowroot powder and baking soda until smooth.
 Drop essential oil into the mixture and mix to combine.
 Pour the mixture into the deodorant stick container (make sure the bottom of the stick is at the bottom of the container).
 Put in the fridge to harden overnight.
 Once hardened, the deodorant is ready to use and can be kept in the bathroom.
 
 Body Scrub
 8oz glass container with lid
 ½ cup olive oil
 2 tbsp castor oil
 1 cup sea salt
 5 drops each of Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Sweet Orange
 3 drops of Cedarwood
 
 Add salt and olive oil in a medium sized glass bowl and mix with a metal or wooden spoon so there’s no lumps.
 Add essential oils and continue to mix.
 Pour mixture into your glass container and screw on lid tightly.
 Store in a cool area in the bathroom.
 
 Shaving Gel
 8oz glass pump bottle
¾ cup aloe vera gel
¼ cup raw olive oil
 7 drops of Lemongrass essential oil
 7 drops of Sweet Orange essential oil
 
 Pour all ingredients into the pump bottle and screw on lid.
 Shake the bottle to mix ingredients.
 Store in cool place in your bathroom.
 
 Bug Repellent
 1 cup Witch Hazel
 1 cup filtered water
 10 drops Lemongrass essential oil
 10 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
 10 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
 10 drops Peppermint essential oil
 16oz glass spray bottle
 
 Mix all ingredients in your glass bottle.
 Store in a cool area.
